Cookies and privacy

This page lists everything PartPriced stores in your browser, why, and for how long, and what our server records when you visit. We use no analytics, advertising or social-media services from other companies, and we load no scripts or fonts from other companies' servers.

Everything listed below is strictly necessary for something you ask for, such as signing in, your cart or a setting you chose. That is why we do not ask for consent and show no cookie banner. If we ever add anything optional, we will ask you first, and nothing optional is stored before you say yes.

What we store in your browser

Strictly necessary

Needed for something you asked for: signing in, your cart and quote requests, protecting forms, and remembering choices you made yourself (language, dark mode). These are always on.

  • django_language Cookie Until you close your browser

Remembers the language you chose with the language switcher. Removed when you sign out.

  • messages Cookie Until you close your browser

Carries a one-time notice, such as a confirmation, to the next page you see; removed as soon as it is shown.

  • rfqportal_consent_app Cookie 180 days

Your answer to the consent bar: which optional categories you allowed, and when. Only set when you answer it, and only while the site uses optional storage.

  • rfqportal_csrftoken_app Cookie 364 days

Protects the forms you send from being forged by other websites.

  • rfqportal_sessionid_app Cookie 14 days

Keeps you signed in, and holds your cart, your quote request and the currency you chose while you browse. A staff account's session ends after a few idle hours.

  • support_chat Cookie 90 days

Your access key to the chat you started, so you can carry on with it. Sent only to the chat itself, never readable by the page.

  • catalogViewMode Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

The catalog view you picked (compact, list or grid).

  • compareIds Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

The products you put on your comparison list.

  • core_comments_pending_draft Local storage Until the comment is posted

A comment you sent before signing in, kept until you are signed in and it is posted.

  • darkMode Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

Remembers that you switched dark mode on or off.

  • dealOffer:v2:* Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

The offer you are putting together on a deal page (items, quantities, prices), until you send it.

  • newListingAlertPending Local storage Until you are signed in (at most 30 minutes)

The search you asked to be alerted about, kept while you sign in so the alert can be set up.

  • quoteDraft* Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

Which quote requests you are putting together (one to buy, one to sell) and how many lines each has, so they follow you from page to page, like a cart.

  • quoteSheetIntent Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

Whether your current quote request is for buying or selling.

  • rfq_tour_done Local storage Until you clear it in your browser, or the site removes it

Remembers that you finished or skipped the guided tour, so it does not start again.

  • supportChat.* Local storage Until the chat ends; the unsent message until you send or delete it

That this browser has a chat with us, whether its panel is open, and the message you are still typing, so the chat stays with you from page to page.

  • offline-v* Cache storage As long as the service worker

One offline page the service worker shows when you have no connection.

  • /sw.js Service worker Until you turn notifications off, uninstall the app or clear site data

Our service worker, with your push subscription if you turned on notifications: it shows the notifications you asked for. Only installed if you install the site as an app or turn on notifications.

A name ending in * stands for a family of keys, one per item (for example one per deal page). Most of these are only created when you use the feature they belong to.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no to every optional category, whatever was chosen before.

What our server records when you visit

When you load a page, our own server records: the page's address (with private parts such as access codes removed), your IP address, your browser's name and language as it reports them, the name of the site that linked you here, and your account if you are signed in. On a deal page we also count which items are opened. No cookie or browser storage is used for this, and nothing is shared with anyone else.

Why: to keep the site secure (spotting abuse and attacks) and to see which pages are used, so we can improve them. This is our legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

These records are deleted after 180 days.

You can object, or ask us to erase what we recorded about your IP address, by writing to info@partpriced.com.

Notifications and the app

Only if you install the site as an app or turn on notifications does your browser install our service worker. It shows the notifications and keeps one small offline page, shown when you have no connection. Turning on notifications also creates a push subscription: notifications are delivered by the push service of your browser's maker (for example Google, Mozilla, Apple or Microsoft), and their content is encrypted so that service cannot read it. You can turn notifications off on your notification settings page or in your browser at any time.

Pictures from other servers

Some product pictures are shown directly from the manufacturer's or supplier's website. When your browser loads such a picture, that server receives your IP address, as with any web request; we never tell it which page you were on.

Removing what is stored

You can delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser's settings. Signing out ends your session. Strictly necessary storage comes back only when you use the feature it belongs to.
